This quiet, air conditioned, ground floor apartment which accommodates 4 persons, is located in the center of Rome on a beautiful and historical street. The street, designed by Bramante the great 15th century architect, is home to many Renaissance palaces and churches. The apartment was completely restored and refurnished in December 2009. It is at street level so the main door opens directly onto the street. Being in an historical building, natural light enters the apartment mainly through a large, screened, window in the living room. In addition, there are some relatively small windows in the upper section of the walls through which additional light enters and also allow guest privacy. The flooring is ceramic tile and the furniture has been carefully chosen by the hostess, a former owner of an antique shop. There is a double entrance door: the first, on the street, is a wrought iron gate, and the second is an armored door. It enters directly into a central living room in which there is a double sofa bed that can be separated into two twin beds. The other rooms are off this main room. The main bedroom has a double bed (not dividable), good closet space and a chest of drawers. The fully furnished kitchen area - electric stove top units, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a toaster and an electric kettle - has a dining area for 4 people. There are two bathrooms with shower stalls; one bathroom is near the bedroom and the other close to the kitchen. The unit also contains a safe, a free Internet WiFi connection, a TV set with international channels, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, a radio and a phone for local calls. Central heating is provided by a gas unit; hot water is provided by an electric heater. The courteous hostess speaks English. No smoking please. Pets are welcome. Air conditioned is available for an extra 5 Euros per day to be paid to the owner.
The banks of the Tiber River are just one short block away and the famous Palazzo Farnese, built in the early 16th century and currently seat of the French Embassy since 1936, is literally around the corner from the apartment. The Campo de' Fiori and Palazzo Spada with its grand art collection in the Galleria Spada are just 2 blocks away. A walk along the Via Giulia to the Vatican highlights some of the street’s treasures such as the Oratorio del Gonfalone and the Church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini. Also, within easy walking distance are many more of the historic sights of Rome such as Piazza Navona, the Vatican, Piazza Venezia and a short distance further is the historical Trastevere area, the Coliseum and Largo Argentina. Public transportation is available on nearby Corso Vittorio Emanuele and at Largo Argentina.
